 Iraqi FM, U.S. Ambassador discuss Iraqi delegation visit to Washington

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, discussed the cooperation in the field of combating terrorism and extremism, and the visit of the Iraqi delegation to Washington, with the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, according to a press statement issued by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.

The statement mentioned that the meeting between Hussein and Romanowski addressed the depth of the relationship between Iraq and the United States and ways to develop this relationship in different fields to serve the interest of the two countries.

Hussein and Romanowski discussed the cooperation in the field of combating terrorism and extremism, easing tensions in the region through dialogue, and confronting economic fluctuations, the statement explained.

Both sides talked about protecting the environment and adapting to climate change, which became an existential crisis, especially as Iraq and the countries of the region are among the countries most affected by the climate crisis, the statement elaborated.

The two officials spoke about Hussein’s upcoming visit to Washington where he will head a high-level delegation that will include economic and political officials.

Hussein and Romanowski also reviewed the program of the visit and the meetings that will be held to address political and economic issues, in addition to issues related to the Iraqi and American currencies.
