 Iraqi Oil Ministry to agree with Kuwait on joint oil fields

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul-Ghani, said on Monday that Baghdad is seeking to reach an agreement with Kuwait regarding a mechanism to benefit from the joint oil fields between the two countries, according to Al Qabas newspaper.

Abdul-Ghani statement took place on the sidelines of the meeting of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) held in Kuwait.

Abdul-Ghani said that there are joint committees between the two countries to study the mechanism of benefiting from the oil fields located in the border areas.

“We hope to reach an agreement on the joint oil fields between the two countries,” Abdul-Ghani stated.

The oil ministers of OAPEC countries including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Iraq, Qatar, Egypt and Syria, in addition to the assistant oil ministers of Bahrain, the UAE and Algeria discussed the situation in energy markets.

Additionally, the Iraqi Minister of Oil was elected to assume the presidency of OAPEC in 2023.
