Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, announced on Thursday that he accepted Egypt’s invitation to hold an international conference to discuss the developments in Gaza.

Al-Sudani indicated that it is time for the Arab and Islamic countries to adopt a unified stance towards the Palestinians, according to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat.

“We renew our clear and firm stance on the Palestinian right to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital,” the Iraqi Prime Minister said.

The Iraqi Prime Minister emphasized that the international community should take serious measures to stop the Israeli bombardment against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Al-Sudani elaborated that he is looking forward to having a unified political stance by major countries to find a just solution to the Palestinian cause, explaining that Iraq quickly sent humanitarian aid to Gaza through coordination with the Egyptian government.

The Iraqi leader noted that a unified mechanism adopted by Arab and Islamic countries will be pushed forward during the upcoming conference scheduled to take place on October 21.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Tuesday mentioned that Al-Sudani received the invitation from the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to participate in the summit that will be held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, where several leaders from the Middle East will attend.
