Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has arrived in Tehran on an official visit, where he will meet with Iran’s President, Ebrahim Raisi. The subject matter for their conversations includes bilateral relations as well as the critical regional problem of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in Gaza.

The discussions are anticipated to focus on how Iraq and Iran can work together to achieve regional stability, with the Palestinian issues acting as a focal topic of discussion.

The visit coincides with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s recent trip to Baghdad. On November 4th, during his visit to Iraq, Blinken met with Al-Sudani to discuss the deteriorating situation in Gaza and Israel. Since the commencement of the Israel-Hamas conflict, a series of rocket and drone incidents have targeted US military locations in Iraq.

“I made very clear that attacks or threats coming from militias that are aligned with Iran are totally unacceptable,” Blinken said after his discussion with Al-Sudani on Sunday.

Approximately 2,500 American troops are stationed in Iraq to advise Iraqi soldiers in the battle against the Islamic State organization.

After Israel ordered that Gaza Strip residents relocate southward or to Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, the catastrophic Israeli bombing of Gaza prompted massive demonstrations and condemnations across the Middle East. Several Arab nations including Iraq issued warnings about the forced relocation of Palestinians in Gaza.

According to Gaza health officials, more than 9,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 32,000 have been injured as a result of Israel’s assault of the Gaza Strip, which has a total population of 2.3 million.
