 Iraqi PM calls on Egyptian firms to participate in construction in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, called on Egyptian companies on Wednesday to invest in residential complexes in Iraq.

Al-Sudani’s remarks took place during a meeting with a delegation of Egyptian private sector players, where he stressed the value of developing ties with the Iraqi private sector and continuing to support financial and banking reforms in order to enhance the investment climate, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The Iraqi Prime Minister recognized the Egyptian companies’ proficiency in real estate development, housing, and other industries, emphasizing the opportunities for Egyptian firms to enter the pharmaceutical industry in Iraq.

Al-Sudani indicated the Iraqi government’s focus on the expansion of the agricultural and industrial sectors, citing continuing initiatives such as the approval of almost 40 requests to establish regional pharmaceutical plants.

The meeting addressed the growth of residential cities in Iraq and Iraq’s need for building materials industries, as well as the significance of completing projects such as the residential city of Bismayah.

The Egyptian entrepreneurs conveyed a strong desire to join the Iraqi market, work with the country’s private sector, and take part in infrastructure and investment initiatives.

The Egyptian businessmen also pointed out that Iraq has become a desirable location for commercial ventures and investments, opening the door for further collaboration and mutual growth between the two sides.
