 Iraqi PM confirms government’s refusal of actions by external parties in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, confirmed on Wednesday that the government is responsible for Iraq’s security and the protection of foreign missions.

Al-Sudani’s remarks took place during his meeting with the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Victoria Nuland, and her accompanying delegation, where she congratulated the Iraqi government for the success of the provincial council elections, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The meeting reviewed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries in accordance with the strategic framework agreement.

The Iraqi Prime Minister emphasized the importance of working to enhance the stability of the region, indicating that the Iraqi government is serious about ensuring the security and protection of diplomatic missions, embassies, and the sites of international coalition advisors working in Iraq.

Al-Sudani stressed the government’s rejection of any action taken by external parties in the Iraqi territories.

The Prime Minister addressed the developments in Gaza and the heinous crimes committed against the Palestinian people, highlighting how the international community’s stance on the conflict in Gaza has damaged its reputation.

Nuland conveyed Washington’s willingness to continue cooperating with Iraq in different fields, adding that the US is trying to find a political solution to protect the Palestinian people’s rights and is trying to put an end to its military operations in Gaza as soon as possible.
