Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, discussed ways to strengthen cooperation with Denmark during his meeting with the Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, on Saturday evening, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s press office.

The meeting between the two officials took place on the sidelines of the 59th Munich Security Conference (MSC), the statement mentioned.

Both sides reviewed ways to strengthen cooperation and friendship between Iraq, Denmark and other European Union countries, opportunities for joint work in the economic and development fields, as well as ways to face the challenges caused by climate change and global crises.

Al-Sudani and Frederiksen also discussed the importance of cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism, and the role played by Iraq to establish security and stability in the region, the statement clarified.

Al-Sudani expressed Iraq’s desire to open investment horizons for European companies, after the economic reforms in Iraq provided a suitable environment for investment and economic partnerships in the fields of energy and gas.

Al-Sudani also stressed the importance of combating financial and administrative corruption as it represents one of the government’s priorities, in addition to Iraq’s desire to cooperate with friendly countries to recover stolen funds and arrest criminals wanted by the Iraqi judiciary.
