Iraqi PM expresses condolences on passing of Emir of Kuwait

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Al-Sudani expressed his condolences on the death of Kuwait’s Emir, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Al-Sudani posted on X, formerly called Twitter, saying: “Our heartfelt condolences go out to the brotherly State of Kuwait on the loss of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. May God grant His mercy upon him and patience and solace to his family, relatives, and the entire State of Kuwait.”

According to Kuwait’s official news agency, KUNA, he was admitted to the hospital in November as a result of an urgent medical issue.

The 86-year-old Kuwaiti ruler came to succession in 2020 following the passing of Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, his half-brother.

The Sheikh was Defense Minister when Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990.
