 Iraqi PM lauds Visa’s cooperation in digital transformation

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, commended Visa’s cooperation in expanding electronic payment technology and digital transformation.

Al-Sudani’s remarks took place during his meeting on Thursday with Visa’s Regional President for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Andrew Torre, and his accompanying delegation, according to a statement cited by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The Iraqi Prime Minister confirmed that the government prioritizes economic and banking reform, indicating that the electronic payment system has been approved by the Iraqi cabinet.

The Iraqi government commends Visa for its efforts to educate the public about the electronic payment system and for providing training to personnel within the country, according to Al-Sudani.

Torre expressed the company’s desire to continue cooperation with the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) and Iraqi financial institutions, pointing out Visa’s interest in supporting the Iraqi government’s plans for complete economic and banking reform by introducing advanced solutions and technologies to the Iraqi market.
