Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, opened a new bridge in the Al-Rasafa area of Baghdad on Saturday.

The project is the first to tackle traffic congestion in the capital, Baghdad. It was launched in 2023 and has been completed within 90 days, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The late Iraqi plastic artist Fayeq Hassan was recognized for his outstanding academic contributions to the Fine Arts College and as one of Iraq’s most well-known plastic artists when the Prime Minister of Iraq dedicated the bridge in his honor during the inaugural ceremony.

The new bridge is 420 meters long and 18 meters wide. It connects the Al-Mustansiriya University to the Al-Sarrafiya intersection.

Before the opening, the main roads from the Bab Al-Muadham College Complex intersection to the Al-Sarrafiya intersection had been developed and enlarged.

The project is part of many other projects, including new cities, planned by the Iraqi government to tackle congestion in Iraqi cities.
