 Iraqi PM sponsors National Development Plan’s first conference

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, sponsored the inaugural conference of the five-year National Development Plan, which was organized on Sunday by the Ministry of Planning in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

The conference is scheduled to run from November 26–28, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

In a speech he delivered during the conference, Al-Sudani stressed the government’s interest in strategic plans and initiatives that align with the Sustainable Development Vision 2030.

The Iraqi Prime Minister called on all parties to actively participate in creating a five-year national development plan that addresses the country’s actual development needs.

Al-Sudani praised the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Planning, the experts supporting the work of the Planning Ministry, the UNDP, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to support the work of the Iraqi government.

The Iraqi Prime Minister explained that the government accelerated the implementation of development projects, which total more than 7,000 projects.

Al-Sudani added that the existence of an achievable five-year development plan reflects the security, political, social, and economic stability in Iraq.
