Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, confirmed on Monday that Kurdish regions in Iraq are subject to Turkish violations.

In a televised statement, Rashid said that his country rejects Turkish violations of Iraqi territory, noting that Ankara sent drones and established military bases in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

The Iraqi President indicated that Baghdad is seeking to reach a security agreement with Ankara because its violations lead to the killing of civilians.

The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, attended on Sunday a meeting with Rashid, the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Mohammed Al-Halbousi, and the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zaidan, where they discussed the latest developments and the political and security situation in the country, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The Iraqi leaders rejected any aggression targeting Iraqi lands after the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that it carried out air strikes on sites belonging to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in northern Iraq.

The PKK claimed responsibility for the attack that targeted the Security Directorate in the Turkish capital, Ankara, on Sunday.
