 Iraqi President stresses the need to end Russian-Ukrainian war

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, stressed the need to end the Russian-Ukrainian war, during his meeting on Monday with the Russian ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev, according to a press statement issued by the Iraqi Presidency.

During his meeting with Kutrashev, Rashid stated that the security situation in Iraq improved compared to how it was in the past, the statement explained.

Rashid indicated that during his visits to the governorates of Basra and Nineveh, he noticed remarkable progress in the necessary services, the statement mentioned.

Rashid said that the city of Basra successfully hosted the Gulf Cup championship, pointing out that this is a positive indication that things are going as planned, the statement elaborated.

Rashid stressed the need to end the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war, start negotiations between the two countries, give priority to dialogue, and adopt diplomatic solutions to the crisis to achieve security and stability in both countries and the region.

Kutrashev renewed his country’s desire to strengthen the bilateral relations and develop the cooperation between the two countries. He also reviewed the latest developments regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war.
