 Iraqi President stresses the need to strengthen ties with European Bank

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, stressed on Wednesday the importance of strengthening the relations with the European Bank, according to a press statement issued by the Iraqi Presidency.

The statement elaborated that Rashid met with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum held in the Swiss city of Davos.

Rashid stressed the importance of strengthening the relations with the European Bank, particularly in terms of diversifying the economy and enhancing its stability, as well as creating appropriate conditions for achieving sustainable economic development that focuses on facilitating businesses and providing an attractive environment for effective investment.

Rashid explained that Iraq has the will, the capabilities and energies to support a comprehensive national development.

The Iraqi President noted that the Iraqi government affirms that the promotion of sustainable local development takes place through strategic regional and international partnerships, and with encouraging the private sector in Iraq.

Rashid called for international cooperation to maintain the movement of global food trade and to preserve its supply chain, in a way that enhances global food security.
