Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Ministry of Education announced on Tuesday that Iraq won the Zayed Sustainability Prize 2023, where participants from 152 countries presented more than four thousand sustainable projects, the state news agency (INA) reported.

The Iraqi Minister of Education, Ibrahim Al-Jubouri, mentioned in a statement that the Gifted Students’ School in Nineveh governorate won the first place in Zayed Sustainability Prize 2023 competition for the Middle East and North Africa regions, within the Global High Schools category, INA mentioned.

The Gifted Students’ School participated in Zayed Sustainability Prize 2023 competition with a project called ‘The Spirit of Life.’

The names of the winners were announced at the closing ceremony in the UAE, in the presence of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the presidents of South Korea, Azerbaijan and Uganda, as well as many other officials.

“Iraq is now included in the list of distinguished countries in the world and winners of the Zayed Sustainability Prize, which was launched in 2008 to support innovative projects,” the Gifted Students’ School mentioned via Facebook.

“We hope for our beloved country to continue excellence, and for our students and staff to be more creative,” the school added.

The Zayed Sustainability Prize, an evolution of the Zayed Future Energy Prize, is the UAE’s pioneering global award in sustainability and a tribute to the legacy of the late founding father of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The Zayed Sustainability Prize is an annual award that rewards the achievements of those who are driving impactful, innovative and inspiring sustainability solutions across five distinct categories. These categories are Health, Food, Energy, Water and Global High Schools.
