Iraqi singer Kadim Al Sahir and the UN release a new song for Gaza

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Often hailed as the Caesar of Arabic music, Iraqi singer Kadim Al Sahir has collaborated with the United Nations in a powerful display of solidarity with Palestine.

The recently released English track, Hold Your Fire, serves as a global initiative. Composed and performed by Al Sahir, the song features lyrics by Tom Lo and distribution by Michael Fadel, in collaboration with the UN Chamber Music Society. According to Al Sahir, it represents “an ongoing effort to support peace and humanitarian endeavors.”

With a musical legacy spanning over forty years, Al Sahir has indelibly shaped the region’s musical landscape. Amidst the distress of innocent civilians affected by the Israel-Gaza conflict, he has exemplified unity, peace, and love through his voice. Most recently, he was featured in Vogue Arabia, underscoring his continued influence.

“This song is a heartfelt cry for peace and a testament to the resilience of the human spirit,” says Al Sahir. “It is part of our continued quest to support our people with all the tools and abilities we have in the East and West.”

The sheer scale of human loss resulting from this ongoing conflict stands as one of the greatest tragedies of our time. While the international community remains largely silent, a few, like Al Sahir, actively use their platforms to pursue justice and extend humanitarian assistance. Consequently, all proceeds from the track will be donated to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees and conflict zones in the Middle East.
