Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi national team won 2-0 on Monday in the match against the Saudi counterpart in the second round of Group A of the 25th Gulf Cup championship, which will continue until January 19.

The match was held in Basra International Stadium, and it kicked off at exactly 7:15 p.m. local time.

Just thirty minutes into the match, the Iraqi national team made progress as the first goal was scored by Ibrahim Bayesh.

Bayesh’s goal gave his team control of the game before Aso Rostam sealed the win with the second goal.

Heavy rain made the game difficult for both teams, however, ‘The Lions’ did not let this distract them from such a crucial victory.

The rain also made it almost impossible to run, navigate and manage the football. Long shots made an impact, while in most cases short ones failed, The weather conditions caused a lot of sliding amongst both teams.

Iraq now places at the top of Group A – with four points ahead of its Omani counterpart.

As a result, the Saudi team places in third place in Group A, with three points.

Iraq’s previous match played against Oman ended in a tie (0-0).
