Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – During a conference held in Madrid, representatives from the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MENA embassies, Spain’s LaLiga clubs, and other Spanish institutions and companies discussed the factors that have contributed to the success of the LaLiga project in Iraq. 

La Liga, the premier professional football league in Spain, which consists of Barcelona and Real Madrid, along with the Iraqi Embassy in cooperation with the Iraqi Pro League Association and Casa Árabe, arranged the conference.

Adnan Darjal, the President of the Iraqi Football Association, Javier Tebas, the President of LaLiga, Saleh Al-Tamimi, the Ambassador of Iraq to Spain, and several other presidents of Iraqi football clubs that play in the Iraq Stars League attended the conference.

The Iraqi League’s establishment as a separate legal body and the development of an organizational chart and human resources strategy for its management are examples of how the initiative has assisted in the introduction of a new governance model.

In order to draw sponsors, the Iraqi league has also developed its digital ecosystem, which includes social media and marketing collateral.

As the growth and evolution of football in Iraq is a clear indication of the country’s stability and openness in recent years, the Iraqi Embassy in Spain views the initiative as an example of the positive relations between Iraq and Spain.

Through its collaboration efforts, this initiative will not only improve cross-cultural interchange but also play a crucial role in promoting political and economic growth in Iraq.

As part of a three-year effort that marks a turning point for the growth of football in the Gulf region, LaLiga and the Iraq Football Association started working together in mid-2023. This is a partnership that will assist Iraqi football develop in all directions using the long-term model that LaLiga is globally recognized for.
