 NIC discusses implementing housing projects with Egyptian company

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Chairman of the National Investment Commission (NIC), Haider Makiya, discussed on Tuesday a number of investment opportunities in the real-estate sector with Orascom Investment Holding (OIH), according to a statement cited by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The statement elaborated that Makiya received the Egyptian businessman, Naguib Sawiris, Chairman and CEO of OIH, and his accompanying delegation where they discussed number of investment opportunities and talked about the sectors where OIH wishes to invest.

OIH is considering possible investments in the real estate sector through the establishment of various projects, the statement mentioned.

These projects include building large cities for both high-income individuals and low-income individuals outside the capital, Baghdad, the statement clarified.

OIH is also considering other projects that would serve the large cities it is intending to build in order to tackle the congestions in the Iraqi capital, the statement added.

OIH is studying investments in other fields related to tourism, hospitality and agricultural industries, as well as other projects similar to the ones the company previously implemented in Iraq.
