 Parliament Speaker calls for provision of Gaza’s humanitarian needs

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, emphasized Iraq’s firm stance on the Palestinian issue, calling on the international community to provide the Gaza Strip with the necessary humanitarian needs.

Al-Halbousi’s remarks took place during his meeting on Friday with the French president, Emmanuel Macron, where they discussed the strategic partnership agreement signed between Iraq and France, according to a statement issued by the Parliament Speaker’s office.

The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament highlighted the need to find a solution to the Palestinian issue and to reduce tension in the region.

Al-Halbousi condemned the violent military attack carried out by the Israeli occupying forces against civilians in the Gaza Strip.

“The Palestinians should not be left without basic needs,” Al-Halbousi said in reference to the siege laid by the Israeli occupying forces on Gaza.

The Parliament Speaker also discussed the bilateral ties between the two countries and the need to carry on with the required steps of the strategic partnership agreement.

The meeting also addressed efforts to reduce tension in the region and the steps needed to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
