Parliament Speaker discusses Gaza war with Russia, Australia, Britain

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, discussed on Wednesday ending the war in the Gaza Strip with the ambassadors of Russia, Australia, and Britain.
Al-Halbousi held separate meetings on Wednesday with the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev, the Australian Ambassador to Iraq, Paula Ganly, and the British Ambassador to Iraq, Steve Hitchen, according to a statement issued by the Parliament Speaker’s Office.
The meetings addressed ways to strengthen the bilateral ties between Iraq and Russia, Australia and Britain, as well as the political situation in Iraq and the region and topics of common interest.
The meetings also tackled diplomatic efforts and the role of the international community in stopping the war in the Gaza Strip and delivering humanitarian aid to the Palestinians besieged in Gaza.
With the war in Gaza reaching its 33rd day, Palestinian health officials mentioned that the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli assault in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank has increased to 10,678, with over 28,500 people being injured.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said in its daily report that 4,324 children, 2,823 women, and 649 elderly people were among the dead, while over 2,550 individuals—including over 1,350 children—were reported missing under the rubble.
Out of 35 hospitals, at least 18 are no longer operating, while 71 percent of primary care establishments in the strip have shut down as a result of damage or fuel shortages.
