Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in Iraq announced on Monday the launch of a large-scale security operation in Salah Al-Din governorate, north of Baghdad, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.

The PMF mentioned in a statement that forces from the Kirkuk and East Tigris Operations Command, represented by the 9th, 22nd, 88th and 52nd brigades have embarked on a wide security operation in an Island in Salah Al-Din governorate.

This operation is part of the security plan during the month of Ramadan and also to prevent any infiltration of terrorists, according to the statement.

The PMF’s 9th brigade began search operations in different areas in Salah Al-Din, the statement revealed.

The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced last month the arrest of five elements providing logistical support to terrorists in Baghdad and Salah Al-Din governorates.

The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency (FIIA) of the Ministry of the Interior mentioned in a statement that its officers managed to arrest five wanted terrorists in accordance with the provisions of Article 4 of the Terrorism Law, in separate operations in Baghdad and Salah Al-Din.

The FIIA added that the elements were providing logistical support to terrorists in Salah Al-Din governorate, as well as providing information about the movements of the security forces, INA reported.
