Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – In an accident, the second of its kind in less than two days, the Iraqi Civil Defense teams were able to put out a fire that broke out at Baghdad International Airport and control the fire without recording any casualties.

The Iraqi Civil Defense mentioned in a statement that firefighters completely controlled a major fire incident that broke out inside the two-story Nineveh passenger terminal at early hours of Thursday.

15 specialized firefighting teams led by the Director of Civil Defense, Kazem Salman Buhan, participated in putting out the fire, the statement elaborated.

“Fire brigade mobilized and put out the fire that broke out on the ground floor of the VIP lounge and some travel offices,” the statement explained.

Iraqi firefighters had to break locks of some offices to put out the fire and to limit material damages, without recording human injuries, the statement added.

The administration of Baghdad International Airport reported that the fire that broke out in Nineveh terminal was brought under control by airport workers and civil defense teams, confirming that there are some minor material losses.

The airport’s administration also mentioned that the air traffic was not affected, however, some flights were delayed.

On Tuesday, civil defense teams put out a fire inside a cafeteria in the departure hall at Baghdad International Airport, according to a statement by the Civil Defense Directorate, which also indicated that three workers received medical treatment as they suffered suffocation because of the heavy smoke.
