Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, arrived on Monday in Baghdad on an official visit.

The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, received Erdogan at Baghdad International Airport upon his arrival, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The Turkish President’s visit to Iraq is the first in 13 years.

The visit represents great significance in light of many issues that require solutions, especially shared waters, oil exports from Iraqi Kurdistan, the Development Road project, economic and banking cooperation, and the joint security issue.

The two sides are expected to conclude strategic agreements and sign memoranda of understanding in different areas.

The Iraqi government affirms that the main points of discussion will be the issues of water and economic cooperation, particularly the Development Road project.

According to experts, the visit will help the government achieve its goals of putting projects into action, building strategic alliances through collaboration with neighboring countries, and ending crises by addressing unresolved concerns.
