Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, called for stopping the attacks targeting the sites of the international coalition forces in Iraq.

“The President places no higher priority than the protection of American personnel serving in harm’s way,” Romanowski said on Tuesday via X, formerly Twitter.

“US and Coalition forces are in Iraq as guests of the Iraqi government,” the US Ambassador added. “Attacks against them are attacks against Iraq, and these attacks by terrorist groups must stop.”

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced earlier on Tuesday the launch of air strikes on three facilities belonging to Kataib Hezbollah and its affiliated groups in Iraq in response to a series of attacks against US personnel in Iraq.

The Iraqi government condemned the strikes carried out by the United States, describing them as hostile and in violation of Iraqi sovereignty, noting that they caused the death of a security member and the injury of 18 others, including civilians.

Iraqi factions have escalated their attacks against Iraqi military bases that include advisors from the international coalition forces since the outbreak of the Israeli war against the Gaza Strip.
