Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The US-led international coalition announced on Saturday that one of its drones crashed due to a mechanical failure, south of the Iraqi city of Kirkuk, according to a statement cited by the Iraqi news Agency (INA).

“A coalition drone, which supports the operations of the Iraqi security forces, suffered a mechanical failure and crashed south of Kirkuk,” the US-led international coalition mentioned in a statement.

Iraqi security forces quickly secured the crash site, while the US-led coalition service personnel cleared the area, the statement clarified.

The statement confirmed that the crash did not cause any injuries or damages to the infrastructure.

The US-led coalition’s drones provide vital intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities to the Iraqi security forces, allowing them to defeat the ISIS terrorist group.

An Iraqi security source revealed that the plane crashed was a US drone, and it fell in a village southeast of Kirkuk governorate.
