Inauguration of Basra sports city proves ability of Iraq to host international matches

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Ali al-Mubarqa, Member of the Youth and Sport Parliamentary Committee stated that the inauguration of the sports city in Basra province is a mere Iraqi internal matter and the Iraqi Government is the only side that authorized to determine it.He reported in a statement received by IraqiNews.com ”The International Foot Ball Federation (FIFA) should handle the Iraqi file with more flexibility through lifting the ban imposed on Iraqi stadiums from hosting any matches in the Iraqi cities that enjoy relative security stability, like Basra province.””The inauguration of sports city in Basra will give an obvious message to FIFA and countries abroad clarifies that Iraq can host international matches,” the statement added.The International Football Federation refused to lift the ban imposed on Iraq to host any international matches during the meeting of the executive office which was held on 3,4 of October/ 2013. \END\
