Iranian military launches biggest ground, navy and air forces maneuver

(IraqiNews.com) On Thursday, Iranian army launched the biggest joint military maneuver by ground, navy and air forces in the southeast of the country , which will last for six days.

A spokesman for the maneuvers, Keyumars Heydari said in statements reported by the ‘Al-Alam’ channel and followed by IraqiNews.com, “The goal of the maneuvers’s first day is to test the flexibility of movement of combat units from the center to the front lines,” noting that “The first phase of the maneuvers was successful, in which the troops were moved from the south-east to the south west of of the country.”

Military forces, which are participating in the maneuvers in the first phase, evaluate its speed in changing locations and preparation, as well as processing and building defense fortifications and command headquarters in different regions in the province of Sistan and Baluchistan.

The maneuvers are carried out over a wide area of more than two million square kilometers, starting from the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Aden to the southern parts of the Indian Ocean.
