Raqqa (SyriaNews.media) Syria’s state television announced in the following video that the supreme leader of the Islamic State group, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was killed in air strikes on the city of Raqqa, on Saturday, according to a statement published by the so-called Islamic State’s Wilayat al-Raqqa.

Al-Baghdadi has been reported dead before and so these unconfirmed reports by Syria’s state television network should be treated with suspicion. The images of Al-Baghdadi’s corpse which appear in the Syrian state TV news report have been associated with false claims of his demise in the past: ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi allegedly killed by US airstrikes

The British Newspaper ‘Daily Mirror’ revealed that Syrian media reported, on Saturday, that airstrikes on the City of Raqqa, north of Syria, killed al-Baghdadi, while official military sources did not confirm the news.

Several media outlets also reported that the city of Raqqa witnessed intense air strikes, while the Islamic State-owned ‘Amaq’ published photos showing the damage caused by the air strikes.

Meanwhile, some Twitter activists quoted the news about al-Baghdadi death from the Syrian state television.

It is noteworthy that so far no official sources other than the Syria’s state TV have confirmed the news of al-Baghdadi’s death, while the United State has put a $20 million bounty on al-Baghdadi.

  1. Finally, this evil sub-human piece of garbage is dead. He won’t be meeting his maker in Heaven though, as his murderous evil ways guarantee an enternity in Hell. Despicable cowardly killer of innocent people will run no more! Yippee-Ki-Ay MF!

  2. He’s not dead, no one is showing the body and Daesh isn’t crowing about him martyring himself. Wait for confirmation.

  3. He will have the fate of Saddam or Bin Laden. I’ll go for Saddam and the long drop … but I am open for anything.
