(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Saudi Arabia announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Iran, after the storming of its embassy in Iran by the angry demonstrators who refused the execution of the Cleric Nimr al-Nimr, while confirmed that it is considering the Iranian threats against the Saudi embassy’s workers in Baghdad.

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said in statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “Saudi Arabia has decided to cut diplomatic ties with Iran, while informed the Iranian ambassador to Riyadh and the Iranian diplomats that they have 48 hours to leave the kingdom.”

Jubeir added, “The Iranian authorities did not prevent the storming of the Saudi consulate in Mashhad and it is not the first attack on our representative offices in Iran,” pointing out that, “Saudi Arabia has informed the UN Security Council of the attacks on the Saudi embassy and consulate in Iran and we will not allow Iran to threaten our security.”

The Saudi Foreign Minister continued, “Saudi Arabia is considering the Iranian threats against its diplomats in Baghdad.”
