(Iraqinews.com) On Wednesday, Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon called the militants of the ISIS organization—who captured a Jordanian pilot in northeastern Syria—to treat him according to international humanitarian law.

Spokesman for the Secretary General, Stephane Dujarric said in a statement reported by Reuters and followed by IraqiNews.com, “Secretary-General of the United Nations called the kidnappers to treat the pilot according to international humanitarian law.”

Dujarric added that Ban Ki-moon was gravely concerned about the constant use of violence across the country, including the use of explosive barrels in residential areas, noting that the indiscriminate use of such weapons is a violation of international law.”

The ISIS organization  captured the Jordanian pilot lieutenant Maaz Safi Yusuf Kasasbeh after his plane was shot by a thermal rocket fired by members of the organization. He is the first US-led coalition member to be captured by ISIS.
