URGENT: US and allies launch air strikes on ISIS in Syria

(IraqiNews.com) On Tuesday the Pentagon announced that the United States and its partners began their first air strikes against targets of the Islamic State inside Syria.

An American official revealed that dozens of elements of the organization ISIS in Syria had been killed or wounded by the first US air strikes on the insurgent strongholds in the province of Raqqa and the Syrian border area between Raqqa and Iraq.

The official said in a press statement that “the strikes ,which launched by the United States and its allies on Syria targeted Raqqa, the stronghold of the Islamic State, as well as the Iraqi border area and the arms supplies .”

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the raid targeted the checkpoints of the elements of the organization ISIS.

For his part, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights added that “scores of fighters of the organization ISIS had been killed and injured in the air strikes on the Syrian town of Raqqa and the surrounding areas.”
