France President, Jordan’s King stress support to international efforts against terrorism

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Jordan’s King Abdullah II and French President Francois Hollande, on Wednesday, held talks on relations between Jordan and France and developments in the Middle East, namely efforts to achieve peace and the Syrian and Iraqi issues.

The talks dealt with ways to cement bilateral cooperation and ties in various fields. The two leaders voiced keenness to strengthen ties between the two countries to serve their common interests.

The meeting touched on efforts to bring about peace based on a two-state solution and establish an independent Palestinian state on national Palestinian soil living in peace and security alongside Israel.

They also discussed the latest developments in Syria and Iraq where they called for finding a comprehensive political solution to the Syrian crisis and doing whatever is necessary to maintain Iraq’s unity and cohesion.

The two leaders emphasized the importance of continued high level political dialogue, including their fruitful cooperation in the United Nations Security Council, and stressed that the pursuit of regional and global peace and security is a priority for Jordan and France.

They voiced support for international efforts designed to combat the threat terrorist organizations and radical groups pose to regional and global security. /End/
