 France renews its support for Iraq in training and arming fields

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – On Monday, Iraqi President Fuad Masum received the French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, while called to endorse the mutual cooperation between Baghdad and Paris in a number of fields.

The Presidency of the Republic said in statement received by IraqiNews.com, “This morning, Iraqi President Fuad Masum received the French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad,” pointing out that, “The French Minister of Defense was accompanied by a delegation of French military officials, as well as the French Ambassador to Iraq Marc Barety.”

The statement added, “Masum welcomed the visit of the French Defense Minister, and emphasized the importance of his visit to Iraq, while called for more dynamic relations between the two countries in the political, economic and cultural fields,” indicating that, “Masum also praised France’s support for Iraq in its war against terrorism.”

The statement continued, “The President of the Republic also pointed out to the importance of strengthening the cooperation between the two countries to drain the resources of terrorism in the region and world,” noting that, “Iraq is ready to increase the pace of cooperation with France in the field of information and experiences exchange.”

Meanwhile, French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian renewed his country’s support for Iraq in the fields of training and arming.
