(IraqiNews.com) Security Committee of Salahuddin province revealed on Tuesday, that the halt of military operations in the province was a result of pressure, while refuted what was raised recently about it being “a sectarian battle,” and welcomed the international coalition participation in the battle.

Vice-Chairman of the Committee Khalid Khazraji said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “After the security forces managed to completely cleanse northeast of and reach Tikrit outskirts, the military operations had to halt as a result of political and military pressure, coincided with the global public opinion that deemed the battle of Tikrit a sectarian one,” emphasizing that, “Salahuddin operations were a proof of national unity.”

“The liberation of Tikrit will happen in the coming days… We do not oppose the international coalition’s participation in operations— considering its advanced technology, but it’s up to the central government,” he added.
