Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Lubna Rahim of the Iraqiya Hurra Bloc described the voting on the members of the Independent High Electoral Commission’s Board of Commissioners as “A play to cover the secret agreements done by the heads of blocs.”

In a press statement, she said “The candidates who have been submitted for a vote were imposed by the heads of the blocs since the committee of experts tasked with nominating the candidates was holding a meeting t the voting time but its decision was neglected and the parliament voted on names chosen by the heads of the blocs.”

“We regret that the Iraqiya Slate has betrayed its fans by choosing the members of the IHEC on bases of partisan loyalty and personal relations instead of competency, integrity and independence,” she stressed.

“All the procedures taken by the Parliament in this regard were an attempt to cover the secret agreements concluded by the heads of the blocs,” she added, emphasizing that “We feel sorry that the IHEC which is supposed to be based on neutralism, professionalism and independence has been formed according to wrong basis which would not serve the future of the political process.
