Maliki, Indian FM discuss investment opportunities between both countries

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki called to hold a meeting for the Indian businessmen and companies in Baghdad to discuss the investment opportunities available at the Iraqi market.

A statement by Maliki’s office cited on Thursday “Maliki met with the Foreign Minister of India, Selman Khurshid, where Maliki stressed Iraq’s readiness to improve the level of cooperation between both countries in all fields.”

“Iraq and India have widespread and multiple prospects of cooperation,” Maliki added calling to hold a meeting for the Indian businessmen in Baghdad to figure out the investment opportunities in the country.”

“For his part, the Indian FM expressed his country’s willingness to develop its relations with Iraq in all sectors especially the oil sector, fertilizers plants, petrochemicals and oil refiners, besides the educational, agricultural and scientific domains,” according to the statement.

“Maliki received a written message from the Prime Minister of India in which he invites Maliki to visit India where Maliki stressed that he will meet the invitation as soon as possible,” it added.

The visit of the Indian FM is considered to be the first visit for a senior Indian official to Iraq since many decades.
