(IraqiNews.com) The Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki revealed that “Syria demanded to deposit funds at the Central Bank of Iraq.”

Maliki said in a TV interview “During his last visit to Baghdad, The Syrian Foreign Minister, Waleed al-Mu’alim requested to deposit funds in Iraq, but the CBI refused this request.”

The Prime Minister expressed his worries over consequences of the current events in Syria on Iraq’s unity, noting “The weapons of the Syrian opposition started to be smuggled to Iraq.”

The Foreign Minister of Syria, had visited Iraq on 26th of last May heading a senior delegation to discuss the Syrian crisis and Baghdad-Damascus relations.
