Nijaifi, Shihristani stress necessity of dealing over endorsement of Oil, Gas law draft

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Parliament Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, and the Deputy Premier for the Energy Affairs, Hussein al-Shahristani, stressed the necessity of reaching an agreement between the government and the parliament over the endorsement of the Oil and Gas law draft.

A statement by Nijaifi’s office cited “Nijaifi, in the presence of the first Deputy Speaker, Qusai al-Sihail, and the Oil Minister, Abdul Karim Luaibi, discussed with Shihristani some issues such as the Iraqi oil policy and the relations between Kurdistan Region and Baghdad in addition to the Oil and Gas law draft.”

“The two sides held a meeting on Wednesday comprising the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Oil and Gas Committee and a representative of Kurdistan Region in order bring the various views closer over the Oil and Gas law draft,” the statement added.

“The meeting has also discussed the political crisis in Iraq and the necessity of settling it completely,” the statement concluded.
