Nusayif describes reaching final financial settlement for Kuwaiti Airlines case as "Positive step"

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Aliya Nusayif, of the Hurra Iraqiya Coalition described “The approval of the Amir of Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, over a final financial settlement for the case of the Kuwaiti Airlines as a positive step that must be followed by similar steps to settle other issues.”

In a statement by her office received by IraqiNews.com, she pointed out “We congratulate on this settlement which will end all the legal cases against the Iraqi Airways and its properties but we confirm the necessity of following this step by other steps to eliminate the pending issues between the two sides.”

“We hope the Kuwaiti side to consider the Iraqi current situation which requires settling the important files like the joint oil fields and the unjust demarcating of the borders according to Resolution NO. 833 in addition to relieving Iraq from the 7th Chapter of UN Charter,” she concluded.

Earlier, Amir of Kuwait, Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, signed, on last Tuesday, an Amiri decree to agree upon a final financial settlement between Iraq and Kuwait.

A statement by the Foreign Ministry received by IraqiNews.com cited “The Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, phoned the Iraqi Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zibari where he assured that Kuwait agreed to settle the case of the Kuwaiti Airways and the Kuwaiti Amir signed a decree to approve the financial settlement between the two sides.”

“This decision was published in the Kuwait formal newspaper and the attorney in Britain was informed to stop all the complaints against the Iraqi Airways and the Iraqi funds,” the statement added.

“This decision will permit the Iraqi Airways to purchase air crafts and conduct contract to develop its company,” the statement pointed out.

“Zibari appreciated this decision and its importance to develop the mutual relations between the two sides,” the statement concluded.

It is worth mentioning that Iraq has paid 500 USD Million to Kuwait as a final compensation to the Kuwaiti Airways.
