Parliament forms commission to visit detentions, military camps

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The parliament formed a commission to visit the detentions to check there are abused detainees and to make sure that there are no detainees in the military camps.

A statement by the media office of the parliament received by IraqiNews.com cited “The parliament formed a commission involves the parliament committees of Security and Defense as well as the Human Rights to visit the detentions and to submit a report every 15 days to the parliament in this regard.”

“The parliament offices in the provinces were tasked to receive the complaints over any arrest conducted without judicial warrant and the information over torturing detainees to be followed up by the formed commission,” the statement concluded.

Earlier, the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, tasked the head of the Supreme Judicial Council to make sure if there are detentions in the military camps.
