US General, Iraq Prime Minister discuss cooperation against ISIS

A statement by his office received by Iraqi News cited “During the meeting they discussed the security situation in Iraq and the situation of the region.”

“Dr. Al Abadi stressed the importance of security cooperation between Iraq and the United States according to the Strategic Framework Agreement signed by the two countries and also emphasized the international support for Iraq in the field of combating terrorism in order to get rid of the terrorist gangs of ISIS,” the statement mentioned.

“The Prime Minister-Designate stressed the need to dry up terrorists resources in Iraq and the region in order to maintain stability as Iraq is currently facing an enemy that uses all criminal and inhuman methods, which requires international cooperation and formation of a global system for tracking down and eliminating terrorism,” the statement added.

“For his part, Gen. Austin expressed the United States readiness to assist Iraq in the field of security and training Iraqi forces. He also highlighted the significant progress in the performance of Iraqi forces and their ability to launch successful attacks against sites of ISIS,” the statement concluded.
