Saleh, Egyptian Ambassador to Iraq discuss political updates

Sulaimaniyah (IraqiNews.com) The Deputy Head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Barham Saleh, discussed with the Egyptian Ambassador to Iraq, Shareef Shaheen, the political issues.

A statement by the PUK received by IraqiNews.com cited “During the meeting, which was attended by Rizgar Amin Ali member of PUK Political Bureau, Barham Salih and Shaheen discussed the political situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.”

“The two sides also discussed ways to develop and strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and the Kurdistan Region, especially in terms of economic cooperation and cultural heritage,” the statement added, noting that “The Egyptian ambassador expressed his country’s happiness in regard with the developments taking place in the Kurdistan Region in all fields, stressing that his country intends to open an Egyptian cultural center in Sulaymani in order to promote and strengthen cultural relations between Egypt and the Kurdistan.”

“Meanwhile, Saleh expressed his willingness to provide any support or assistance in opening of this center, praising Shaheen’s role in promotion and development of bilateral relations between Egypt and the Kurdistan Region during his tenure in Iraq,” the statement concluded.
