Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Mohamed Jimsheed, of the Shabak community rejected “Voting on the members of the Independent High Electoral Commission during which the Shabak community was marginalized.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “The vote was conducted on eight members of the Commissioners Board of the IHEC while the ninth candidate will be allocated for Turkmen or Christians.”

“As a representative for Shabak, I refuse this process because it excludes the Shabak community,” he added.

“We were not included in nominating the IHEC’s members and we do not have a representative within the IHEC and other institutions,” he concluded.

Earlier, parliament voted on eight candidates for the IHEC while the vote on the ninth candidate was postponed due to disputes between the Turkmen and the Christians on which community should have this nomination.
