Egypt doubles trade with Iraq’s Kurdistan Region

Suleiman Osman, the Consul General of Egypt in the Kurdistan Region, announced that the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Kurdistan Region will double this year.

The volume of trade exchange was from 70 to 100 million dollars last year. Osman revealed, in the celebration of National Day of Egypt, that attempts to legalize industrial and commercial fields between the two sides are still going on, in addition to the signing of several agreements with respect to commercial projects between Egypt and the region.

The Egyptian Consul General in Erbil indicated that, the stable situations the region encourage Egypt Airline to operate four flights a week between Cairo and Erbil.

Osman added that there are more than one thousand Kurdish students studying in Egypt in the framework of the current agreements between the universities of Egypt and the region.

Falah Mustafa, an official Department of Foreign Affairs in the government, congratulated the people and government of Egypt for the successful elections and the election of a new president. Moustafa indicated that “Egypt was the first Arab country that initiated the opening of the consulate in the region in 2010, since then the relations have been developed between the two sides to confirm the aim of the two peoples to deepen the bonds of friendship and cooperation.”
