(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad- The Ministry of Electricity announced on Wednesday the loss of more than 1,800 megawatts of power, while attributed the reasons to the high temperatures and increased demand for energy and the scarcity of fuel oil, gas and natural gas.

The spokesman for the Electricity Ministry Mohammed Fathi said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, “As a result of the increasing demand for electricity, high temperatures and scarcity of fuel gas, oil and natural gas decline, there is 1810 MW loss of power.”

Fathi added, ”this matter has a negative impact on feeding the electricity to the provinces.”

Earlier today, Minister of Electricity Qassim Fahdawi said that his ministry in need for 12 trillion dinars for fuel and maintenance, noting that it will discuss the new fuel rates with specialists.
