Japan to finance Iraqi infrastructure

japan-international-cooperation-agency-jicaMr. Thamer Abbas Ghadban, head of the advisers in the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, praised the partnership agreement signed between Iraq and Japan to promote and accelerate the implementation of infrastructure projects and economic development in Iraq.

Ghadban praised the efforts made in the completion of many projects, especially the project of rehabilitation of ports which will be celebrated of accomplishing it next July. In addition to, the opening of three bridges in Samawah, before the end of this year and other projects will be founded next year.

During the meeting with the Japanese Embassy and the Japanese Agency for International Cooperation (JICA), in the presence of representatives of the UNDP UN, future projects nominated for funding across the country in various sectors of the economy and infrastructure. Also, they discussed the problems and obstacles facing the implementation process and identifying appropriate solutions.

The Japanese Agency for International Cooperation funded 20 projects to support infrastructure projects in Iraq, which include electricity, water, oil, ports, sanitation and irrigation. These projects funded by the soft loan with more than (4.4) billion dollars, under the supervision of the advisers of the prime minister.
