(IraqiNews.com) BAGHDAD- US Secretary of State John Kerry announced on Wednesday that the international donor conference held in Washington seeks to collect 4 billion dollars to help Iraq.

Kerry, while speaking at the conference, said, “The donors’ conference aims to provide assistance to Iraq in light of the exceptional circumstances experienced by Iraq. The conference seeks to collect at least four billion dollars to help Iraq.”

Kerry added that, “The Iraqi government is seeking to build institutions that include everyone because Iraq’s future will be determined by the Iraqis and not us.”

A senior State Department official confirmed on Tuesday that the United States expects to collect more than two billion dollars from donor countries to cover the needs of Iraq during the donors’ conference.
