(IraqiNews.com) On Friday the United States of America accused Syria and Turkey of purchasing oil from ISIS.

The American Treasury Department Assistant Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, David S. Cohen said in a statement, “ISIS got its wealth at an unprecedented pace and the composition of the sources of its revenue is different from many other organizations such as Al Qaeda,” adding that “ISIS does not depend on funds from donors across the border, but gets the vast majority of its revenue through criminal activities and domestic terrorism.”

He added that “ISIS has deep-rooted relations with traders on the black market in the region. ISIS sells oil to smugglers who transport it in small-scale containers in a variety of ways,” noting that “according to our information, the organization ISIS sells oil at very low prices to a variety of intermediaries in Turkey, which re-sells it to the Kurds, who also re-sell oil in Turkey. Also, it seems that the Syrian government makes arrangements for the purchase of oil from ISIS. This is another indication of the corruption of the Assad regime.”
