(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Health and Environment Committee in the province of Baghdad announced on Saturday the closure of 60 restaurants in the regions of Abu Ghraib and Mahmudiyah west of the capital because of the cholera outbreak, while confirmed that the situation is under control until now.

The Chairman of the committee Nahida al-Tamimi said in an interview for IraqiNews.com that “the authorities proceeded in the closure of 60 restaurants in the regions of Abu Ghraib and Mahmudiyah as a result of cholera outbreak,” pointing out that “a number of ice and water shops that have been closed.”

Tamimi added that “the registered cholera cases are controlled so far,” stressing the need  “to supply the villages and areas with clean drinking water.”

The Ministry of Health and Environment announced earlier on Saturday, for the registration of 239 laboratory-confirmed cases of cholera epidemic to date in the whole of Iraq.
